2013_05_22 Biking images

Just received a bunch of images taken by Joel Krischer from L.A.  Joel took a slew of "action" images of us all on the bikes.  Thanks, Joel!  I'll post a sampling of them here now.

2013_05_19 Heading home

We had purchased our train tickets to the airport yesterday so all was ready for us to head to the airport around 8:00.  I of course was up earlier - reading ebook to pass the time until our alarm went off.

Track 3 - ready to go!

Pretty spunky early in the morning

Checked out and took the 10 minute walk to the train station.  We knew that the trains to the airport left from track 3, now just how to get down to them.  ALL of the escalators went UP only - not the best for lugging the Exxon Valdez suitcase I was pulling!  We walked around most of the station before heading down a staircase.  The train came right on time and 17 minutes we were at the airport.  A conductor checked our tickets again today - not sure what was going on on some of the local rides we took earlier where we never say anyone interested in checking our tickets.

Found the United counter and checked our bags.  Walked over to security - belts and metal stuff out - shoes on.  Computers out including iPads!  Spent the last of our Euros on more chocolate and a box of almond cookies.  Cookies for the plane, chocolates for others back home.

Across for duty free shop

Home soon

The trip home was easy - pretty great service from United.  They fed us a lot of food and water most anytime you wanted it.  Since we were flying starting at 11:00am their time we got to look out and had some pretty spectacular views of Greenland.  Seems we usually fly at night - pretty boring and this seemed better.

Taxi ride home and we started in on the laundry.  Pretty much done by sleep time (8:00p.m.)  three in the morning on the body clock.  I slept until 4 this morning - 8 hours seemed plenty for me.  Started messing with the blog - loading more images to the text I uploaded from there.

Connie off to work this morning so she will probably crash pretty early tonight.  Sinus infection seems a little better for her.  She is still coughing quite a bit though.

I guess that's a wrap for this trip.

Next trip with the travel group is Peru (Machu Picchu) in 2014.  Pretty strenuous walking again, hiking up and over at 15,000 feet!  Start practicing - we have to do these while we can!
